What Is Food nourishes us?
A month residency in Chiang Mai
In a city celebrated for its food culture, it’s easy to consume well and still remain disconnected from the land, people, and systems behind each meal.
The residency begins with attention ( training taste, sensory awareness, and presence through tea) and then expands into examining how food affects the body, how land and supply chains shape what reaches the plate, and how nourishment relies on local and social systems.

- Participant-facilitated tea ceremonies.
Nourishment of the Body

Why join this residency?
Rooted locally, connected globally
The residency is run by Alt_Coliving, a long-term co-working and co-living community in Chiang Mai with two locations and a strong track record in intentional community building.
Alt is a founding partner of the Nomad Friendly District Initiative, a collaboration between the Chiang Mai municipality and the private sector focused on building meaningful connections between global nomads and local communities.
Led by experienced practitioners
Designed and led by a group of global talent, including:
- An ex-NASA engineer turned tea master. Intersection of tradition, science, and sensory education
- The founder of Alt_, with decades of experience in nomad networks and deep roots in Chiang Mai.
- An experience designer focused on educational and community-building activities.
Designed with intention
This is not a wellness retreat; instead, we are engaging more deliberately with the place you are visiting, and forces that are nourishing it. Designed to balance:
- Intellectual depth
- Hands-on, experiential learning
- Productivity-compatible rhythms
- Bodily awareness and well-being and genuine community building.
Experiences you can’t replicate elsewhere
Not the classical Chiang Mai TripAdvisor activities, we are going deeper. The program includes shared experiences that are:
- Specific to Chiang Mai and its surrounding regions.
- Built on real relationships with local producers, cooks, and practitioners.
- Designed exclusively for this residency.
