Daniel Schlagwein is a Professor at Sasin School of Management, Chulalongkorn University, and The University of Sydney. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the leading IS journal, the Journal of Information Technology (JIT).

Daniel is globally recognized as a research leader in digital work, notably on openness and crowdsourcing and "digital nomadism", a term he coined. He leads the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project on Digital Nomadism (2019 to 2025). He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed papers, including 17 in the AIS11/FT50 journals, and has been featured in several "top 100 researchers" rankings, including those by the Wirtschaftswoche (2019) and the AIS (2021). Daniel has edited three special issues and chaired ten research tracks at leading IS conferences, such as the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS).

His research and op-eds have been featured in Australian and international media outlets, including ABC, The Age, The Australian, Australian Financial Review, El País, McKinsey Quarterly, Sydney Morning Herald, and Wired. He has advised on the development of digital nomad visas and strategies in several countries and has worked with industry partners like BOSCH, Daimler, and LEGO on their crowdsourcing strategies.
